This tour is popular with budding photographers and those looking for a taste of ancient Thailand. Ayutthaya’s historic temples, wats and meditation centres provide a great place for the inquisitive explorer as you will be taken to many beautiful and awe inspiring sites within the old city compound.
The Ayutthaya Kingdom was a Siamese kingdom that existed from 1350 to 1767. Ayutthaya was friendly towards foreign traders.
In the 16th century, it was described by foreign traders as one of the biggest and wealthiest cities in the East. The court of King Narai (1656–1688) had strong links with that of King Louis XIV of France, whose ambassadors compared the city in size and wealth to Paris.
You’ll have time to explore each of the old most famous city’s ruins and uncover relics such as, the Buddha’s head nestled in the roots of a giant fig tree and the larger than life reclining Buddha at Wat Lokayasutharan.
Lunch is provided on this full day tour enabling you to refuel before embarking on further explorations in the afternoon. Spend some time strolling through the remains of this once great city and you’ll quickly see why this is such a popular tour destination. History, culture, exploration and relics a plenty.
